What To Expect At The Beginning

When you go for an eye test, be rest assured that your doctor will ask you questions about a large number of diverse elements. Questions will include aspects like the medical history of your family and your personal one. They will need to know the kind of medical eye checkups that you have done in the past and whether you have had a problem with your eyesight in recent times such as double vision. Any sensation of burning or pain or redness in your eyes or whether there is a discharge.

The doctor can also ask you about your general health and whether you suffer from problems such as diabetes. Diabetes is one of the ailments that affect the eyes very often. The doctor will also make a point that he or she gets a complete list of the medicines and drugs that you are taking at the current times.

He or she may even inquire about your immediate environment at home and what is the kind of place where you spend the maximum time of your day. Your eye test will aim at finding out the current condition of your eye.  If you are suffering from an optical condition such as glaucoma or cataract will be clarified, then.

Common Eye Tests

One of the most common eye tests is that the doctor will ask you to read the alphabet on a screen. You will have to read the screen through a mirror. This will indicate how well you can read from a distance and is a direct indication of the condition of your eyesight and whether you have power. The next eye test that is very common in such visits is the tracking of the movement of the eyeballs. Ideally, both eyeballs must move and must be tracked at the same time.

The other eye test that is also done in a common case is the test of color clarity. Depth clarity and the ability to focus are also seen in a rather keen manner. In more acute cases a direct bright red light is thrown into the pupils of the eye. The is meant to reach the cornea, the eyelids, the conjunctiva, the cornea, and the eye tissues. The painless method of tonometry is also used so that a proper measurement of the eye fluid pressure can also be understood. This is one of the main indications of early glaucoma.

When Can You Visit A Doctor For an Eye Test?

The pattern of eye checkups must be different for different age groups. In this context, we see that children must be brought for an eye test at least once before they begin school. After this, they need to be brought for an eye test once a year. For adults, this can be done twice a year. In case there is an irritation in your eye, you must visit a doctor immediately for better treatment.
