2. Lubricating the bearings: One of the fundamental parts of a pump is the bearings. Bearings get overheated by continuous friction and lack of lubricants. Lubricating the bearings is an important part of pump repairs. While lubricating the bearings make sure you clean all fittings and grease cups. Ensure that there are no dirt is left because it might lead to bearing damage and failure. Ungreased parts that are initially ignored turns into a huge disaster in future. 3. Packing of the shaft: Check the packing gland for excessive leakage. If the leakage of water is more than the required amount repack by tightening the packing gland. 5. Repacking the pump: While performing the repacking pump repairs make sure you follow all precautionary and safety measures. The driver and the pump should be safely separated. The most important thing to consider while repacking a pump is that new packing should never be applied on top of old packing. To repack the pump, first of all, remove the lantern ring and the old packing, and then clean the stuffing box. Check the shaft for any kind of wear. Make sure the new packing fits around the shaft and there are no gaps at the joints.
